The police department’s communications section is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to take calls for assistance, including 9-1-1 calls for Gatesville Police, Fire, and EMS. The Gatesville Police Department is the PSAP (Public Safety Answering Point) for all incoming 9-1-1 calls in the northern part of Coryell County. This means that when an emergency call comes into the communications office, the operator either sends the appropriate personnel from Gatesville or transfers the call out to the Coryell County Sheriff’s Department, or another agency if the call originates outside our jurisdiction. Currently, Gatesville Communications Officers dispatch for police, fire, EMS, and animal control. In addition, Gatesville PD has the capability to dispatch county fire departments when needed.
Communications Officers also monitor ever-changing weather conditions to ensure that citizens are informed in the event of a natural disaster or other type of emergency.
The Gatesville Police Department Communications division is working for you in order to keep you and your family safe in the event of an emergency. Because of this, we must insist that you call the police department’s non-emergency phone line (254-865-2226) if your call is not an emergency.
Your call is important to us!
